History

The Grillas BBQ Team cooked in their first contest in 1995 at the Blue Devil BBQ Contest in Kansas City, Ks. It took until 1996 at the Jesse James BBQ in Kearney, Mo before the Grillas won their 1st Grand Championship.

Over the next few years, the Grillas won contests in Blue Springs, Mo; North Kansas City, Mo; Shawnee, KS; Stanley, KS and twice in Platte City, MO. In 2003, the Grillas won the "Big One" as Grand Champions of the American Royal "Open" BBQ in Kansas City, MO. This was followed up by 2 wins at the Great American BBQ Contest in Kansas City, KS. The Grillas were Grand Champions at the Great American "Invitational" in 2005 and the Great American "Open" in 2007.

In 2004 the Grillas travelled to St. Louis and won the Bats & BBQ Contest. In the 2007 inaugural Pleasant Valley BBQ Contest, the Grillas took home the championship.

Over the years the Grillas have seen a couple of changes to their line-up. Cory & Tom have been there since the beginning. David and Danny joined the team in 2006 to replace a couple of departing members.
