Grand Champions of the Great American "Open" BBQ Contest
It seemed like the good old days for the 2007 Grillas BBQ Team. This was the 1st full season for their new members. Cory and Tom are the Grillas only remaining originals. David and Tim joined the team in 2006 as full-time Grillas. They have both contributed greatly to the team's successful 2007 season. Old friends and new ones came onboard. Danny has been a friend for years and the work he does for the team is much appreciated. Ron is a new friend and all of the side dishes and extras he brings to the table make Friday night with the Grillas a true feast.

The 2008 BBQ season will soon begin. The Grillas plan to cook in about five or six contests this season. They will be cooking in Platte City, Blue Springs, Pleasant Valley , and of course they will be at the Great American and the American Royal. Who knows, they may get the invititation to Jack Daniel's.

Where Are The Weber Bullets?
The 2007 season was the Grillas first full year using Cory's custom rig. Gone is the row of Weber Bullets that proved so successful over the years. Gone too is the cooking under an awning in the wind and rain. What was given up by losing the ability to use different wood combinations for smoking each type of meat, is more than made up for by the convenience of the fully self-contained kitchen.

The pit on the Doolittle 37 1/2 foot Custom Cooker trailer is an OLD HICKORY COOKER - MODEL EL-IB. Cory's trailer design also includes sleeping quarters above the gooseneck and a jamming sound system with removable external speakers.

The transition from the old Weber days to the new trailer seems to be complete, with the Grillas winning two Grand Championships in 2007.
